Vole Control

Have you noticed strange trail systems between your grass? It sounds like vole activity. Commonly mistaken for other small animals, a vole is a small rodent resembling a mouse but with a stouter body, shorter hairier tail, slightly rounder head, smaller ears and eyes, and differently formed molars. There are approximately 155 species of voles in the United States. Voles are sometimes confused with moles, gophers, mice, and rats. They cause damage by moving through turf creating pathways through your lawn. This kind of damage is most noticeable in early spring after the snow has melted. Often, voles will burrow underneath the snow during the winter, foraging for sustenance or traveling. Since there is a significant amount of time for them to travel under the snow through the thatch layer, they can create large amounts of damage with the grass dormant and unable to recover. This is why voles are so often noticed in early spring. Though their damage is more significant in spring, it can still be noticed and occur throughout the growing season. Often, people confuse this above surface trail creating with mole tunneling, however all species of moles tunnel under the surface and not above it. If you notice under the surface damage to your property, a mole control application would be highly recommended.

Lush Lawn’s Vole Control applications are designed to eliminate vole populations that are causing property damage. We use commercial grade baits and baiting systems. The baits are housed in secured bait stations to prevent pets or children from having contact with them. The baits are designed to kill the voles within 10 days of being ingested. We guarantee a vole control application for 45 days. If damage continues to occur after a 14 day period, please contact our office to setup a FREE service call. We want to make sure that all of our customers are 100% satisfied with their applications.
